Trail Angel

05/24/23 Zero day: We woke up at 5am and packed up our gear, I decide to stay back to try and get a ride to an urgent care to look at my leg. I send the girls off and a different adventure starts. Trying to find where to go and how to get there from the middle of no where posed to be a frustrating challenge! Thankfully, my best friend was on it, did some research and found some urgent cares near me, then helped me hatch a plan. Eventually, I experienced my first trail angel magic! After a few hours of figuring out logistics and trying to find a ride… I met Annette and her mom at the restaurant near the lodge, who offered to drive me to Alpine where I saw a doctor, they waited for me, then drove me all the way back to Julian. I almost cried. Annette and I grabbed a drink in Julian before we said goodbye. As for the leg… we suspect I had a weird reaction to some kind of desert creature bite. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Seriously! It’s affected my whole hike thus far! I’m resting a couple days to make sure it’s nothing more than that… What a way to start!

Trail Angel, Annette!
Poor leg!
